Division of Labor: Chicago Artist Parents examines the aesthetics, materiality and meaning of an artists work in relation to parenthood. Combining creative approaches to art making-while-parenting with community-building, interactivity, and activism, Division of Labor addresses the impact of parenthood on an artist's creative practice and career.

The exhibition’s reading room, housed within Lise Haller Baggesen’s Mothernism installation, features artist books, exhibition catalogues, zines and comics.

Online, our virtual reading room provides context, criticality, information and entertainment, expanding the exhibition and its physical reading space by offering an archive of complementary materials online that include selected artist projects, videos and essays on the themes that run through the exhibition. It also serves as an online platform for continued conversation surrounding the artworks and ideas that comprise Division of Labor.
